A Peek Into Our Week- Scrapbooking & Gardening!

It was a pretty normal week here, except I was feeling lucky! Monday afternoon, while picking Olivia up from preschool I got a call saying I was the lucky winner of the Scrap Book Basket from the Fun Fair. YAY! I had told Greg I really hoped I won it- and I did! :) It was waiting for me Tuesday morning, it felt like Christmas morning!

It was filled with TONS of Scrapbooking supplies- and a lot of it was on my wish list! SCORE! ;)

Olivia had "Feild Day" at school on Thursday, even though it rained they still had fun inside. She said she was on a team with Lily & Sophia and that they had fun and ate ice pops. She also preformed "Little Miss Muffet" for the class with props.

Saturday the kids watched "The Rescuers Down Under". They really liked the movie and sat quietly watching it the whole time.

In the afternoon, we went outside to play and get a start on the garden.

Olivia Turns 5!

April 22, 2007 was the day my life changed forever when I gave birth to a 6lb 14oz baby girl. It's so hard to believe 5 years have flown by and now she is a WHOLE HAND old! Olivia was so excited for her big day.

The first thing she had to do was open a present, of course! She picked the one Aiden had picked out for her which was filled with art supplies!

She took a quick break to enjoy her birthday breakfast- doughnuts with sprinkles. Then it was back to the presents. The night before, Aiden heard Olivia asking if she got to open presents tomorrow. When I said yes, Aiden's face lit up and he yelled "thank you mommy!!". I had to break it to him that all the gifts were for Sissy, since it was her birthday. He threw his hands over his face and boohoo'ed. At 2&1/2, that just doesn't seem fair I'm sure. So we were sure to wrap up a little matchbox car I had upstairs in the closet waiting for a special occasion. That took the edge off, but he was still a little jealous.

Here she is opening her Hello Kitty Scrapbook Kit!

We got a video of her opening her "big" gift. She was SO excited to see McKenna under the wrapping paper! We had told her American Girl was all sold out so we couldn't get her McKenna or go there on her birthday. Little did she know we were saving it for a surprise!

I got her a new outfit to wear to the American Girl Place- when she put it on she kept talking about how "mature" she looked. Can you tell she reads a lot of Fancy Nancy?

After presents we were off to Tysons to the American Girl Place. We got there and had about a hour to shop before our reservation at the Bistro. There were 2 floors full of American Girl "stuff"! Olivia already had a idea of what she wanted though! She picked out McKenna's fancy dress and McKenna's accessories set. I knew they had shirts there only for that store, so I took her to pick out a AG Washington DC shirt. She picked a red one for her and a matching one for McKenna along with white capris. Next up was lunch at the bistro!

Aiden being a good sport!

Olivia's first course!

We all enjoyed the meal. Olivia has spaghetti and meatballs, Aiden had a cheese pizza, Greg had some kind of chicken pasta, and I had salmon.

The whole restaurant sang "Happy Birthday" to her. Then she enjoyed her celebration milkshake.

After AG, we went home and had more cake and ice cream. Olivia kept saying how it was "the best birthday ever!" I think she had a great day!

A Peak Into Our Week- Preschool Fun Fair & Birthday Celebrations!

So, I skipped blogging last week. It was a pretty routine week leading up to this big week including Olivia's 5th birthday! It was a pretty spring week with warm weather. I was excited Olivia could finally wear some of her new dresses to school. Here's a shot of the kiddos ready to leave for preschool on a typical Monday morning.

With less than a month left of Olivias preschool it's really sinking in how much I enjoy everything about this time in life. Olivia is so happy and enjoys going to preschool and I love sending her there. I love all the teachers and people there. It's going to be sad to say good bye next month- but in reality, it won't be goodbye, it will be see you later. Aiden's got to go to preschool eventually and I'm already looking forward to a similar experience with him! Anyways, even the car rides home from preschool are fun. Aiden and I enjoy hearing all about Sissys day. On Tuesday, both kids were making their stuffed animals dance in the back seat- soo cute. They both enjoy music and I catch them singing along more & more lately! Olivia's favorite is Adele. :)

On Thursday I got to take cupcakes into Olivia's class! Her whole class was so excited to see Aiden and for the the cupcakes, of course. Olivia was proudly wearing her birthday crown. The class sang "Happy Birthday" to her and then ended it with blowing her 5 kisses. The look on her face is one I hope I can remember forever. You could see how special she felt and how happy she was. :) Then they all enjoyed the cupcakes and Aiden even got to sit next to Dale to eat his. After the cupcakes were eaten up, Aiden and I got to listen to the birthday book the class made for V. It was so sweet.

Olivia was really good about including Aiden in her class. The class ended the day  singing "The Farmer in the Dell" while dancing in a circle. Aiden was a little unsure but Sis showed him how to do it. :)

Friday I finished up the bedding for Olivias doll bed! Greg built and painted the bed himself and then Megan & I went to Joanns to get fabric and she thought me how to use her sewing machine. Score! :)

On Saturday SJES had their second annual fun fair! As soon as we got there Olivia's first stop was the Bouncy House! I bought a really pretty hanging basket for the porch from the plant sale- yay! Let's just hope I can keep it alive. Then we went to play some games and V got her face painted- she picked a kitty cat. I'm sad I never got a picture of her with the face painted. :( I also bought some raffle tickets for some different themed baskets.... more on that next week! ;) We ended the day with a cotton candy which both kids enjoyed. I think Olivia's favorite thing there was probably the boucny house and seeing Mrs. Gattuso. Aiden favorite was defiantly the mini golf game they had- he got a hole in one! It was a great day!

Now I am off to bed- I will update about Olivia's actual birthday on another post tomorrow!

A Peek Into Our Week- Happy Easter!

We had a busy and fun week! Olivia was on Spring Break all week so Aiden & I were happy to have her company. Tuesday I  had to register her for Kindergarten! I don't really want to think about her starting school 5 days a week yet, but I had to face it and get all her paperwork done. She did really well being patient while I filled out page after page until they took her to ask her some questions. She got a great review- yay! She was a little unsure about going to a new school but I think she liked it. She was most worried about where the playground was. :)

After we were done at registration, we went to get Olivia's hair cut! She has only had little trims ever since she was born and decided it was time to cut some off and donate it to Locks of Love!

I am so proud of her AND so love her new hair do. It looks so cute and will be so much easier to take care of! We celebrated her K registration, new hair do & donated hair by a ice cream lunch at her favorite place- Sweet Frog! :)

After Sweet Frog, we headed back home to see what Aiden was up too. Megan, Marcus, & Malcolm came over to keep a eye on him while V& I were out. Aiden had a blast playing with the boys! We decided to run down the road the the playground and let them play some more. We always have such a good time together. On Thursday, we surprised Olivia & Marcus with a date to see The Lorax at the movies. Olivia loved the movie (in 3D!) and sat still the whole time enjoying her pop corn and goodies.

Friday Greg & I went out to eat at Chilis, made our Costco trip for the month, and stopped by Target for some last minute Easter goodies. I also picked up some stickers from Michaels for the new Easter Buckets I got from Target. I'm so excited about them- personalized Easter buckets for about $10 each! Saturday I tried to do my freezer cooking while Greg was working OT. That was NOT my best idea. Aiden wasn't feeling well and just wanted to be held and couldn't nap. By the end of the night, Aiden ended up going to bed without dinner and the rest of us didn't get to eat our steak dinner until about 9:30. It was a late night. We also colored eggs once Greg got home. Olivia enjoyed it but Aiden was not feeling up to it so I didn't get many pictures.

Sometimes I just have to remind myself things aren't always going to go as I planned and that's ok. The hubster & I got everything ready for Easter day after the kids went to bed. We tried to watch a movie while stuffing the eggs with candy, but after the eggs were done we decided we were to sleepy to stay up. Good thing we went to bed, because Olivia was up at 7AM to see what the Easter Bunny brought her!

"Happy Easter Aiden!"-Mommy
"Happy Easter to you!"-Aiden

Both kids loved the goodies from the Easter Bunny! Aidens favorites were the tractor, combine, and big wheeled gator and he liked the Reese cups. Olivia loved the accessories- a pearl necklace, hello kitty watch, and flower hair clips. She also got a new bikini and Aiden got a swim suit. They also got dry erase place mats. The Easter Bunny hid over 70 eggs in the yard!

After the egg hunt, we went over to Grandpa Turner & Uncies to visit. For our Easter dinner we headed to Diane & Bobs. Olivia had a great time visiting with Kara, as always. We had a great Easter, the kids chocolaty smiles said it all. :) Now it's on to planning for Olivias 5th birthday! :)

A Peek Into Our Week- Easter Egg Hunt!

I am giving blogging a shot as a way to keep up with my project life and keep track of what goes on in our family- just to document our day to day life!

Our week started off with Olivia preparing to bring Pandy back to school with her. Pandy is the class mascot that each child gets to take home for 2 weekends during the school year. This was Olivia's second and last weekend with Pandy and she was so sad when it was time to go back to school. Here's Olivia & Pandy on the swing-

Pandy also brings a journal with him where Olivia gets to tell the class about what her and Pandy did during their time together.

If you can't tell, they had a great time together. It's hard to believe that there are only 2 months left of preschool. I don't think either of us are ready for it to be over yet! I spent some time getting ideas of things to keep Olivia busy during her summer break. I think we are going to have do different themes with books, keep a journal, and review the alphabet- and lots of crafts, of course. I have to take her to register for kindergarten next week- yikes!

A low light of the week was the cold weathers return and the arrival of pollen. Aiden had a stuffy nose and had a little bit of a cough which turned him into a extra snugly boy, which mama enjoyed....

....but it also led to a rough night. He woke up coughing so I went to check on him and he wanted to come to our bed. He slept through Greg's alarm but woke up shortly after and woke me up saying "movie please mama". So he watched cartoons (Team Umizoomi is his current favorite) while I got ready for the day. He defiantly felt the effects of his early morning though- he was back asleep shortly after we dropped his sis off at preschool.

My poor buddy!
The highlight of the week had to be Olivia's first school Easter egg hunt at St. James! Aiden & I showed up a little before 11 to wait for her class to come up to the courtyard for the egg hunt. Olivia was so happy to see us that she ran to give me a hug while all of her friends were running off to find eggs. :)

It didn't take her long to find her 10 eggs!

After the egg hunt her teacher said we could join them at the playground. Aiden was so happy to get to play with his sissy and her "fends". Olivia introduced Aiden to all her classmates and her best bud Dale was excited to hear how many new words Aiden had learned!

"Wow! Aiden can talk now!"- Dale
"Thanks Dale!"- Aiden :)

They really enjoyed playing together on the playground. Aiden thought it was fun to be a "big kid" for the day, but still says he doesn't want to go to school yet- he wants to "stay with mama." Shew- I'm so glad!

Now I'm off to clip coupons and watch Army Wives. Greg is on week 2 of overtime so we need to enjoy what little time we have together lately.
